About SLRWA
The St. Lawrence River is known as one of the best fishing destinations
in the world. This mighty river is the watershed of the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean making it one of the largest
fresh waters on the planet.
A place with four seasons,
Northern New York's rivers provide an ideal habitat for the walleye. The deep waters with strong currents as well
as a host of feeding tributaries makes the river a sportsman's dream come true with outstanding fishing. While 5-10
pound walleye are not uncommon, this elusive fish will offer any fisherman a challenge.
The St. Lawrence River Walleye Association is making strides to preserve this wonderful fishery and protect it from
modern influences for our future generations. It is the hope and desire of the organization to one day build a research,
hatchery and visitors center to provide cutting edge laboratories and facilities to study the impact of man, natural occurences
and invasive species on the walleye.
We
are actively seeking grant monies and other partnership funding to build the center, but your participation in SLRWA tournaments,
providing sponsorships and your individual or business memberships support these efforts on a grassroots level, and for that,
we thank you!

a contribution
from the family of charter SLRWA member and avid fisherman
Elwood Smith who passed away last January.
Smith's wife Rebecca
earmarked the donation in Elwood's name to benefit the construction of the new
portable
hatchery in his memory. SLRWA is grateful for the family's kindness.
